THE DO’S AND DONT’S OF SUMMER HOLIDAYS

ovi-dress5-1-of-1

In the weeks leading up to any upcoming holidays, I usually tend to do lots of research. Making sure we are prepared in any situation, I always like to make sure I’m packing appropriately for the weather, having outfits all ready and my beauty bag packed for the occasion!

When you’re travelling with girlfriends, you normally rely on them to have something if you forgot it, however I’m generally traveling with Richard, and I am pretty sure he won’t be packing a hair straightener just in case I forget mine! So being prepared is key 😀 That’s why I’ve compiled a list of Do’s and Dont’s when preparing for your summer holidays.

DON’T FORGET TO DO YOUR RESEARCH

Before you leave for your adventure, make sure you’re organized and do all your research. You will totally thank yourself later (and so will those who are traveling with you!) You may discover some little gems that you would otherwise not find, or you may even find somewhere incredible to visit that you just can’t miss. There are really no downsides to making sure you know a little about your destination!

DO KEEP HYDRATED

This is one of those simple little tips that we all know but do we always do it? I know I don’t! Especially when we’re in a hotter climate than our usual we should be upping our water intake to ensure we stay feeling and looking good. Not only will it keep you headache free, help with digestion and keep your temperature regulated in the hot weather, it will keep your skin looking it’s best too. If you’re not the biggest fan of water, try switching it up for green tea or even OVI hydration, a healthy alternative to juice that has the added benefits of green tea in it.

DON’T OVERINDULGE TOO MUCH

Obviously, when you’re on holiday, you’re going to indulge a little, but I think it’s important to try and do it all in moderation. The last thing you want on your holiday is to feel sluggish and bloated. Try to choose healthier options when you’re eating out to maintain a good balance.

DO USE SUN PROTECTION

The older I get, the more aware I am of looking after my skin. We all know the sun’s effects on our skin is extremely damaging and having the perfect tan is not worth the risk. I would recommend making sure you have a travel sized sun lotion on you at all times so you can re-apply during the day (especially on those areas that are most exposed)

DO USE A FAKE TAN

I love being tan, it makes me feel really good and full of life, but as I mentioned earlier- lying in the sun for hours on end is just not worth the risk. I like to use the gradual tan from Bondi Sands to keep the tan at a color and it’s a more consistent way to keep your fake tan looking fresh.

DON’T FORGET YOUR COMFY SHOES!

When you’re on holiday, you typically want to explore and will most likely want to be comfortable while you’re doing so! There is nothing worse than discovering that the shoes you brought could not have been a worse choice. Because you generally have limited packing space, try to pack at least one pair of shoes that you can wear over and over for when you plan on exploring.

DON’T FORGET TO RELAX!

Okay in most cases, this is obvious. But when you’re a workaholic/selfieholic or you like to constantly be on the go, it’s important to remember to chill out. Switch off the cell phone- take the night off trying to capture that perfect holiday selfie and enjoy your time off!
